unexpected company

No matter whether the windows were open or closed, the vines found their way inside the apartment while we slept – waiting to greet us in the morning with bright flowers coyly hiding their malevolence. The spring sunshine filled the crystals and spilled rainbows across the walls. They danced with the vines on every movement of the air.

It was a quiet Sunday morning and the boys were out. The windows were open to let in the growing smell and I could see the bamboo had nearly reached the second floor. I had hot tea, a present to knit and a pleasant daydream to keep me company. The time passed casually.

It is not uncommon for friends to drop by, I find it delightful and this was no exception. Seeing the window open my neighbour leapt in.
